About UCU School of Dentistry

The Uganda Christian University School of Dentistry (UCU SoD) was established in 2018 as a department within the School of Medicine. In 2020, it was elevated to a fully-fledged school, reflecting its growing vision and strategic importance in dental education.

UCU SoD offers a comprehensive Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) degree—a rigorous 5-year program that integrates academic excellence, clinical training, and ethical formation. The school admits 10 students annually, ensuring a focused, high-quality learning environment.

In July 2023, UCUSoD celebrated a major milestone by graduating its first cohort of dental surgeons.

We view dentistry not just as a profession, but as a calling to serve with excellence, integrity, and love.

Why School of Dentistry was Established?

There were three key driving factors behind the inception of the UCU School of Dentistry. Firstly, it aligned with the strategic plan of UCU to expand its offerings in the field of science. Secondly, hosting a denstistry school inherently enhances the reputation and prestige of any university. Lastly, the opportunity to collaborate with Mengo Hospital, renowned for its excellence in holistic care, treatment, and research, presented an ideal partnership for UCU.
